Clark Griffith had as much influence on the early years of baseball as anyone in history. He was the first manager of both the New York Highlanders (later the "Yankees") and the Washington Senators (later the Twins of infamous "Calvin Griffith" fame). He also managed the White Sox and Reds, and was a star pitcher for the Chicago Cubs in the late 1800's
Griffith's personal copy of the 1908 "Spalding's Base Ball Guide". Griffith managed the Reds for only the 1909 season - curiously, when I first opened this book there was a very old index card bookmarking the picture of the Reds team, which of course did not have Griffith in the photo - he was in the White Sox team photo that year!
